LOS ANGELES – February 12, 2025 Independent film producer 727 Squared and ARwall, the leader in XR filmmaking and virtual production (VP) technology development, announced today that they have signed a co-production agreement to bring the highly anticipated historical drama "Barrage" to screens worldwide through ARwall’s development and production arm, Glowcraft Films.
This groundbreaking collaboration combines the innovative storytelling of 727 Squared with the pioneering virtual production expertise of ARwall. "Barrage" will utilize the full range of ARwall’s in camera VP software capabilities and Glowcraft’s filmmaking skills, honed over hundreds of production days and decades of creative producing, to bring the compelling historical narrative to life.
Michael Gordon Bennett, CEO of 727 Squared and writer/producer of "Barrage," expressed excitement about the partnership: "We are thrilled to join forces with ARwall and Glowcraft on ‘Barrage.’ Their reputation for visual innovation perfectly complements our storytelling vision. Together, we aim to create a historical drama that's truly extraordinary."
ARwall launched Glowcraft earlier this year, adding legendary digital media pioneer and film producer Scott Ross to that team. "The opportunity to collaborate with 727 Squared on ‘Barrage’ is incredibly exciting,” noted ARwall CEO Rene Amador, Glowcraft's first Executive Producer. “The journey of these characters allows us to marry our technical and creative expertise to serve a powerful historical narrative that has already garnered critical acclaim for its artistry.
“As the CEO of ARwall, I can speak endlessly about how our patented tech enables us to recreate historical settings with unprecedented realism and detail, easily incorporate or change a range of virtual locations, control lighting and other elements in real time, and seamlessly blend in-camera visual effects. However, as a filmmaker, I know that what all those inventions really mean is that the technology can begin to disappear into the background of the process once again, the way only a professional tool can.”
Bennett further emphasized the transformative potential of this collaboration. "Too often virtual production is unavailable to independent filmmakers, but ARwall makes my vision for this historical film possible through their award-winning ARFX technology."
The screenplay for "Barrage," penned by Bennett, has already received national recognition by the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards, Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition and the Austin Film Festival, setting high expectations for the finished product. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film is set to offer a unique blend of historical storytelling served up through innovative visual techniques.
Production is set to begin Q2 of 2025, with a targeted release date to be announced.
