ARwall Enters Strategic Partnership with Cherry Johnson Siegmund James for IP Assertion
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Sept 7th, 2026
The partnership between virtual production technology pioneer ARwall, and powerhouse patent litigation firm Cherry Johnson Siegmund James PC (CJSJ) marks the start of a campaign against unlicensed usage of foundational effects technology used on hundreds of the highest-grossing films and series of the past decade, produced by the largest media companies in Hollywood.
LOS ANGELES, California — Sept 7th, 2026 — ARwall, Inc., a software developer of foundational technology for in-camera XR virtual production, today announced a strategic partnership with litigation and trial firm CJSJ, experts in commercial litigation and intellectual property. Under the partnership, CJSJ will support ARwall in the development, protection and strategic positioning of the company's considerable patent portfolio.
ARwall's portfolio is comprised of six (6) granted patents, five (5) in the United States and one (1) in Taiwan, covering a cohesive suite of technologies for extended, augmented and mixed reality (XR/AR/MR) in motion picture production, video production and immersive experiences. The inventions center on real-time virtual sets displayed on LED video walls with camera or human tracking, and extend to applications including virtual production soundstages, live broadcast set extensions, immersive theme park installations, and consumer XR experiences.
"ARwall was the first mover in bringing XR technology on-set for LED virtual production, beginning with our work in my kitchen in Studio City in 2016, then on the Universal City lot, then at Phase Two in Culver City,” recalls ARwall Co-Founder and CEO Rene Amador. “Then we opened our first office in Burbank, where we completed over 5000 demos for everyone in entertainment. During the pandemic, we switched to video chat demos and met all the major studio heads in their pajamas, something I’ll never forget.”
ARwall has been heralded by the XR creative community, trade groups and press as one of the sector’s great success stories, spurring one of the fastest mass adoptions in the industry's history. “Coming out of the restart in 2021, it was wonderfully apparent our tech brought salvation to filmmakers, crew and performers at the exact moment they needed it,” noted Amador. “And yes, we won some awards, but as filmmakers ourselves, our drive to keep innovating comes from wanting to push the industry toward new ways of approaching filmmaking. That constant search keeps things creatively interesting for filmmakers and viewers, but also adds huge value in efficiency and cost control, which is exceedingly important in today’s economic climate if we want to keep things centered around human performers, human crew and human artistry."
The earliest patents in the portfolio carry priority dates beginning in 2017, with subsequent filings through 2023. One of the most recent U.S. issuances remains open to active continuance, allowing new claims to be pursued indefinitely.
"The Firm and I are proud to assist ARwall regarding enforcing and licensing their IP. Ever since I met Rene, I knew the company was innovative and aggressive -- two values I share." said Erick Robinson, Partner at CJSJ.
The partnership reflects the expansion of licensing and enforcement opportunities for foundational tech IP owners in the United States over the past few years. It also underscores that the startup era of the virtual production industry may be over. LED volumes are now used continuously across film, television, and location-based entertainment extensively with no end in sight. These new VP platforms and workflow have proven capabilities to allow immediate integration of emerging technologies to captivate audiences.
